Web Design:

This site was created for the Northeast Section of the Ohio Water Environment Association. They have a ton of content, so to make it easier to manage all of that content, the site is using a custom WordPress back-end. Some of the highlights include a members only section, slide out contact form and nicely animated drop-down menus. I designed and developed the site. Technologies used are PHP, Javascript, Wordpress CSS and the Jquery library and all code has been validated.

I actually had little to do with the design work of this site. That was all done by my lovely wife Roberta. However, I was involved in the user interface and behavior of the site, which I think came out well and is what I want to showcase here.

This is the new Broken Spoke Studios site. The objective of the site is to deliver new shows easily and quickly, thus the reason recent episodes and a show list are featured in the secondary navigation. The site is created using mostly PHP and javascript and was built as a CMS by developing a custom Wordpress install to make adding shows as easy as possible. The site is currently lacking the content to make it function properly, but that will be coming soon, so stop back!

This site was created for the Business Development group. It was going to be used to showcase the different aspects of the business. The site was created using mostly PHP, CSS and javascript. The site utilizes AJAX to refresh the content with minimal load times. The map page was there to dynamically show all of the different book locations and was created in Flash.

This web site was created for the Absorbent Mind Montessori School. At the time of creation, the school had been in business for a couple of years. They already had a web site, but wanted a better presence on the internet. I worked to create something that was fun and energetic, but would also be informative. The first semester after this site went live, enrollment doubled. In the two years since it was created, they have had so many new kids enrolled that they have had to expand twice, and are still running at their full capacity. This site was created primarily with XHTML & CSS, but also has sprinklings of Javascript, PHP and Flash. I also created the majority of photography and illustrations for this site, and serve as the creative director for all of their media needs.

This web site was created for the company I am a partner of Broken Spoke Studios. We generally serve a fairly small niche in the market serving various types of mechanical contracting companies. During the creative meeting and research leading up to this site, we found that most of the sites were rather dull. We had done well for ourselves creating very high tech looking material that our clients loved. With this in mind, it was decided that we needed something that would make a splash and differentiate ourselves from the other agencies our customers were used to seeing. We decided to go with a site that employed a heavy dose of motion, and brought Flash in to help out. The site is currently under reconstruction, and will be brought back as standards compliant site that also happens to serve a completely different purpose, that however is a surprise that I can't share right now.

Web site for M.W. Mielke Mechanical Contractors. This was one of the first sites I created as a partner with Broken Spoke Studoios. The client wanted something that was full of motion and had a high tech look. Flash may be out of style now, but at that point, it was the cat's pajamas and I was the Flash guy in the company. The client was very pleased with the end result, and became the talk of the town in their industry.
