To be quite honest, that title stings a little bit. My ten year career with my previous employer has ended through no fault of my own. The company that I previously worked for decided to close the building we worked in, leaving myself and many others without a job to go to.

Unfortunate for sure, but I intend to raise a glass to new beginnings! So while this situation might be bad for my personal finances, it should be good for you, or the few of you who are regular readers of this site. With all of my new found spare time I intend to add a bunch of new articles to this site. The majority will probably be tutorials in web design and photography, but I will probably throw in some free WordPress templates and miscellaneous articles as well.

The first item to come up will be a video on how to build a better light tent. I should have this complete in the next few days. Don’t want to give away any spoilers, but I have one more part to shoot that involves a cat high on the catnip. Should be quite entertaining.

After the light tent video, I will be concentrating on the soon to be re-branded beer review site. With the re-branding it will be getting a real design for the site and many many more reviews on the hand crafted beers that you love. If there are any beers you would like to see reviewed in the near future, send me a message. Assuming that I can score these at any of my local beer distributors I will get the team of tasters together to throw back a few and put our thoughts into words.

Aside from that, I have a ton of new content planned for here, as well as a few sites I am also involved with. So with that, stay tuned, new content is coming.

It has been a long time coming, but I am happy to announce that my site has finally been redesigned! At the moment, just the main portion of my site is done. The blog will be up next for taking on the same design.

Of course, with any new design, there are plenty of bugs to be worked out. I didn’t do as much testing as I should have, simply because I was excited to get the old design out of sight. The previous version wasn’t really wasn’t much of a design. I put up the information quickly with every intention to put together a nicely designed site. Unfortunately, other projects started popping up, and before I knew it, a year had gone by with nothing done to the site.

The new site isn’t complete yet either. I have quite a few new features and tweaks planned for the near future, so expect to see changes happening almost daily. With the new design, I also plan to start adding regular posts to the blog. These will range from tech tips to rants.

I am curious what everyone has to say about the new look. Send any comments, good, bad or ugly, to my email, or in the comments below.

Since some people seem to stumble here first instead of my site’s home page I thought a short description was in order.

This is my blog page. Sadly, I pretty much neglect this side of my site. I have ideas of grandeur for it, but something always seems more interesting at the time. If you are using Word, Excel or any of the rest of the suite, you have probably noticed that it starts up rather slowly, usually hanging up around the “optimizing fonts” step. To aleviate this, open Word, go to the preferences, under the general preferences, turn off WYSIWIG font menus. This preference will populate the entire suite, saving even more time!

Alright, plenty of things are going on here at shawncope.com.

First let me explain my site changes a little bit. If you have been to my site before, you will notice that it has completely changed. I was using Flash exclusively to power my site. While this makes designing it very easy, it makes things like search-ability and updating less than simple. So, to alleviate this I am switching to an HTML designed site. I have never been one to keep beating a dead horse however, and tables are dead. With that in mind, I have decided to go with a pure CSS layout…. Not as easy as it sounds.

Another thing that makes this transition more complicated than it needs to be is the fact that my beloved Macbook has died. Not really sure what happened there, but needless to say, it has been sent into Apple and is awaiting parts. Needless to say, this means I have very little access to any of my file, and I am forced to use an unfamiliar computer.

This blog is also completely new, not only to my site, but to me as well. The reason it doesn’t mimic the look of my site is that the site design itself isn’t complete, and I am still unfamilliar with the WordPress tool. I added this to my site as a way to keep my content fresh and new. I am going to do my best to update this often, as well as try to make it interesting.
